A framework for fast RFID tag reading in static and mobile environments
نویسندگان
چکیده
A framework for reducing the average reading time of passive RFID tags in dense environments is introduced. The proposed framework termed Accelerated Frame Slotted ALOHA (AFSA) can be used in conjunction with almost all RFID tag reading protocols that are based on frame slotted ALOHA. It is shown that AFSA reduces the tag reading time by avoiding the wastage in bit times due to collisions and idle slots. The implementation of AFSA in conjunction with two different ALOHA protocols – one with unlimited frame sizes and the other with limited frame sizes is discussed. For both these protocols, extensions of AFSA to read passive tags in a mobile setting are described. Simulation results show that AFSA reduces the average tag reading time by up to 40% with respect to the stand alone ALOHA protocols under both static and mobile settings. 2007 Elsevier B.V. Grouping Based Dynamic Framed Slotted ALOHA for Tag Anti-Collision Protocol in the Mobile RFID Systems
Dynamic framed slotted ALOHA (DFSA) protocol has been widely used in many RFID systems. According to the information from last frame (e.g. the number of idle, success and collision slots), DFSA dynamically adjusts the next frame size so as to reach higher identification efficiency. The process is known as tag estimation of DFSA. Similar to most existing tag anti-collision protocols, The DFSA in...

Advances in wireless and mobile communication technologies have enabled the development of various RFID-based systems and applications in addition to the extension of the tag reading range of mobile readers. Thus, it has become commonplace that multiple readers concurrently attempt to read tags within ranges of the readers. However, this concurrent access among multiple mobile readers brings ab...
متن کاملAn improved accelerated frame slotted aloha (afsa) algorithm for tag collision in rfid
The efficiency of tag identification in an RFID (radio identification system) can be low down due to the tag collision problems. The tag collision problem occurs when a reader try to read multiple tags in an interrogation zone. As a result, the reader doesn’t identify the tag correctly. That causes a loss of information or data interference. To solve such kind of issues a series of ALOHA based ...

Locating objects is a key requirement in several of the emerging computing paradigms. The problem of locating objects has been extensively studied from a variety of technological and technique-oriented perspectives. Recently, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), a wireless automated identification technology, has come forth as a viable platform for locating objects, particularly in indoor env...
متن کاملA Improved Frame Slotted Aloha Protocol with Early End in Mobile RFID Systems
Frame slotted ALOHA (FSA) protocol is a classic tag anti-collision protocol. Similar to most existing anti-collision protocols, The FSA initially aims at tag identification of static scenarios, that is, all tags keep still during the tag identification process. However, in many real scenarios, tags generally move along a fixed path in the reader coverage area, that is, tags stay the coverage ar...
